WHAT'S NEW?
The past eighteen months have been a busy time for
Dave, with the release of two major books and the continuation with Corgi
Toys of a new range of James Bond die cast vehicle gift sets. Firstly, 20th Century Fox Studios in
Hollywood commissioned Dave and Lee to research, write and design a
prestigious hard back book about the making of the classic war films The Longest Day, Tora!
Tora! Tora! and Patton Lust For
Glory. This was the first time this major studio had published a book,
and the result was a superb 162-page volume crammed with facts and many
never-before-seen photos dedicated to these three excellent movies. Released
with 6 DVDs concealed within the cover, The Great Fox War Movies is currently
available from Cinema Retro magazine’s own Amazon store (www.cinemaretro.com and click on
‘store’ banner) and leading retail outlets. Such was the success of this book
Dave and Lee are currently in discussion to produce two more books for Fox
during 2008/9. Titles to be announced shortly. 2007 saw Dave and Lee produce another deluxe
hard-bound book, this time about the John Wayne classic The Alamo. Again, like the war book, the duo wrote and designed

James Bond gift sets from Corgi Classics. Four in all, each one limited to
1500 pieces, and packaged in special boxes featuring cars from the eras of
Sean Connery, Roger Moore, Pierce Brosnan and
Daniel Craig. Dave wrote both the packaging text and the liner notes in the
special brochures that come with each set. Look out for them in stores now. So what does the future hold? Well, apart from the
upcoming Fox deal, both Dave and Lee continue to publish the very successful
magazine Cinema Retro (see www.cinemaretro.com
for details) and are currently working on a book about the western films of
Clint Eastwood. Watch this space for further news, or if you have a specific
